Still reveling in all of the inspiration and products I experienced last week at The Special Event Conference, I keep referring to a few pictures I snapped and found online while visiting the Cultural Intrigue booth.

The variety and versatility of their inventory is positively exhilarating. I tend to shy away from labeling or "theming" a wedding or event but, rather, consider there to be a style or story that can be told with accessories.

Though some products may be identified as "vintage," it doesn't mean your celebration has to be entirely doused in it. Small touches can be romantic and sophisticated and I love the versatility that this entire product line offers.

I have been enamored with the innovation of Nuage Designs for years and years now, but my visit to "The Special Event" in Tampa just this week only confirmed by deep-seeded admiration.

Recently, I have had conversations with my industry peers on how overused I believe the word "couture" has become. "Couture" however, is entirely apropos when describing the creations that come from Nuage.

Material is procured from all over the world for custom, designed to fit linen and furniture made to suit either your event or Pablo's wildly astonishing imagination-

Their website is literally an online playground featuring color stories, napkin accessories,furniture, linen, hard goods and designs and so much more- And, the 6,000 square foot showroom in Miami??? Mama-Mia!

I planned a wedding this past Spring featuring the Nuage line, and it was impeccable.

Evidently she stumbled upon my blog featuring Jeffrey's fun video above, and our personal journey {that was co-written with Jeffrey} of the details of our NYC elopement.

The article is is masterfully written even highlights iconic couples {Audrey Hepburn included, *SQUEAL!!!*} that have chosen the same path to marriage and sensitively features the emotional {and practical} reasons why couples choose to elope.

Whether you are traditional, classic, conservative or even contemporary, lace can most definitely have a role in your wedding.

No longer considered stuffy or demode, lace is appearing in various elements in wedding design.

The most visible statement you can make with lace is with, of course, your wedding gown. These gowns featured by Angel Rivera and Oscar de la Renta perfectly illustrate how a gown can be carried off in a traditional, classic and stylish manner.

I've made wonderful connections and acquaintances by way of wedding industry colleagues along the course of this marvelous career of mine from all over the world and country.

Every now and then, I'll listen reeeeeeeaalllllly close to that inner voice in my head when I feel like something or, in this case, someone is just different. I remain grateful that I took heed and listened to that voice 5 years ago when I {almost didn't!} met Garrett Nudd. Now, I get to rock weddings out with a phenomenal photographer that is a close and dear friend and have gained an extended family to make my fortunate situation almost surreal.

After our first {seriously, almost didn't happen!} "introduction," our first friend date was in my office with his delightful and lovable wife, Joy and their adorable baby, Graycen. To my extreme pleasure, they've added to this deliriously happy brood with sweet, you-can-just-take-a-bite-out-of-her-cheeks Campbell ...

If I have the pleasure to speak with you, please ask me about the day I met Garrett. It's a good story, and I'm so glad it's ours to tell-

In a nutshell-- Garrett Nudd!

Itching to work with: I'm blessed to work side by side with my lovely and talented wife Joy. It works so well for us and it makes our life together significantly more rewarding. There's honestly no one else that I'd rather work with day in and day out. Otherwise, if I were to interpret the question as who would I like to photograph.... lately I've really been itching to do some portraits of various current pop-culture influencers. Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has rushed back into the spotlight with The Voice, colorful British golfer and fashion designer Ian Poulter, tv personality Jimmy Fallon, film stars Kera Knightly and Anne Hathaway, more singers/musicians than I have room to list but at the top would be Phil Collins and Jon Bon Jovi (not necessarily together). And last but not least, do I dare admit that I think I'd enjoy photographing the cast of the ridiculously overly popular Twilight saga? Not because I'm a raging fan like many others that I know, but it's just that they all seem to be so genuinely nice. ;-)

Fashion obsessions: I love shoes, which a lot of people who know me already know. And I'm also really fond of belts. When I'm traveling I usually pack a different belt for each outfit.

Beauty must-haves: well that's fairly obvious...hair glue, of course.

Office/Work must haves: a generous bounty of dark chocolate and peanuts. When your office supply list consists of more food than paper/ink/pens/tape/staples, etc., you know you're in trouble.

Speed dialing: Joy, my parents, my in-laws and Paco's Mexican restaurant in Winter Park, FL for take-out.

Can't get enough of: Just about anything from Trader Joe's.

Jonesing to: Return to Europe and spend all afternoon sitting at a sidewalk cafe just watching people while sipping an over-priced European soda.

Current work project: remodeling our studio & boutique in Chattanooga. It's a never-ending labor of love.

Current personal project: positioning our family to be in the running for our neighborhood Yard of the Month... just kidding! Let's see, something that's actually attainable.... To be honest, my current personal project is trying to teach myself to intentionally seek out ways to make a difference. I was at lunch with a friend years ago when I worked in corporate communications and he commented, "look at all of these people hurrying around on their lunch break. Every one of them thinks their job is the most important job in the world." It's easy to become self-absorbed, especially when we're busy, but it's important to take time and observe others.

Necessary extravagance: I'm pretty simple. My only consistent upgrade is paying an additional $1.79 to add guacamole to my tacos at Chipotle.

If I weren't a photographer I would be: a magazine editor or a college professor teaching writing, public relations and photography. Each year I spend two weeks teaching a photography intensive at my alma matter and it's something I eagerly anticipate every year. I love watching light bulbs turn on in people's heads.

In my bag: In my Think Tank camera bag I have a mix of both Nikon and Canon camera gear. It's a hot complicated mess in there. Plus, it makes wedding guests think I'm really really good. I can't figure it out, but camera brands (like computers: mac vs. pc) are so polarizing for lots of people, as if you shoot one brand and I shoot another, than I'm superior to you. Blah, whatever. So if an ammeter photographer wedding guest approaches me with their camera and asks me what I'm shooting, I tell them Nikon and Canon and usually they raise their eyebrows giving me enough time to sneak away and get back to work. In my golf bag I have Calloway irons, a Taylor Made driver, and my putter is a classic old Wilson 8802 that I've used since I was in high school.

Recent discovery: I thought that having a child in kindergarden would automatically generate lots of free time with her being away for 8 hours a day, but all of a sudden it makes life for our family really busy. Joy is an amazing mom and she juggles everything so gracefully. We both help out by volunteering in the classroom as often as time permits.

Craving: Pacos in Winter Park, Paxia in College Park, No Mas in Atlanta. Yes, they're all Mexican restaurants.

Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks

There are quite simply too many to list, but my four favorites (in no particular order) are:

1. Doing the giant inflatable slip-n-slide at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island with Joy, you, Jeffrey, Jessy and Bligh
2. You and Jeffrey surprising us at our Cobblestone Rue grand opening in Chattanooga
3. Celebrating with you and Jeffrey at your post-wedding shindig in Winter Park
4. The never-ending vendor dinner at Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman thanks to the imaginations of Jessy Rivers and Joy Nudd and the generous hospitality budget of Tami Corday.

Pretty Wedding Details- A Modern, Sexy Cake!

I loved the look of this wedding cake that we had at a wedding at The Ritz Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes ---

The couple was very contemporary and sleek with great fashion sense, and I believe this cakes suited their style perfectly.

The brown on one half and the white on the other is very mod, and I dressed the table with this, dare I say, sexy linen from Wildflower Linen. I gave the table some "umph" by putting a couple of layers of crinoline underneath to offer it some volume ...

That's one, sexy cake!

This Week I'm Loving ... Enchanting Weddings

It seems as if my inspiration for wedding design is just growing by leaps and bounds lately.

And, why not? Inspiration is not only everywhere I look in day to day life professionally, but with the various social media sources that are at our fingertips!

This week, I'm loving the use of foliage and greenery in wedding and event design. I'm currently designing a gala for this upcoming March with this very concept in mind.

I have sensed a notable shift in design priorities with my clients of late. Many want to maintain an elegant, sophisticated vibe with more "grounded" elements ...Event design ingenues such as Preston Bailey can always help us dream it to the next level!

Dare I say, Kate and Will may have had something to do with this?

Whatever the case, I'm just loving the lush and flourishing options-

Purple, Cream and Green, Lush, Organic and Rustic ...

I am eagerly anticipating the design elements coming together this Saturday for the wedding of Megan Campbell and Bryan Glass.

Inspired by their favorite trip together to Napa Valley, we communicated this aesthetic in it's simplest and truest sense to our floral designer Lee Forrest.

Lush creamy and purple florals combined with organic elements such as artichokes, grapes, pears in eclectic vessels of stone urns, mercury glass, wine crates and burlap will put gets at comfortable ease AND inspire as they dine family style.

Looking forward to sharing the abundant details soon, but these images from the mere sample should hold you off until then--

This year I am beyond excited to be a co-hostess for Thanksgiving dinner in an unfamiliar yet friendly locale. {I'm sure I'll have more on that soon!}

Last year, my good friend and lifestyle blogger, Joy Nudd recruited my "hostess gift" story and I thought I'd share as we have just one week left to get it together!

Note: You can do this affordably and stylishly! Have fun, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Our ”gifts“ as hosts {cooking, cleaning decorating, setting an elegant table} can seem monumental at times. Many of us {read; ME} put an extraordinary amount of pressure on ourselves to personally hand pick each ingredient and cook every last recipe to perfection. I’ve been a hostess for various holidays for as many years as I can remember, so switching gears for this Thanksgiving and being invited as a *gasp* guest has been welcomed challenge.
I still very much wanted to have a personal touch on the holiday, of course, and so I have set my focus on a lovely hostess gift.
This year, I am a guest at my beloved Jeffrey’s mother’s house. She is the most delightful woman and I would consider her to be the same kind of hostess as I am. She is a marvelous chef, she can feng shui a table like it’s nobody’s business and she is driven solely by the comfort of her guests in her home. Because of this, she rarely accepts contributions or assistance.
This year my hostess will receive a “Day After Thanksgiving Survival Kit.” A bottle of wine seems so ordinary, her table will be set beautifully and her menu is set, so …she can enjoy the components to her kit on the weary day after:

A Wedding of Heritage and Romance at The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island

I feel like we bundled heritage and romance and were gifted the beautiful results of this emotionally charged wedding.

My bride, Debby is admittedly reserved and prefers to shower her family and friends with love and affection instead of being in what she would refer to as "the spotlight."

I understood that. Great thought and planning went into how I could not only deliver a stunning wedding worthy of the family's investment, but one that would resonate with Debby and Michael to reflect them appropriately. I knew that I had to make her feel as comfortable and beautiful as possible on this day, incorporate special elements that I knew made her happy, and the rest would effortlessly fall into place.

And so it did. Her gown was her mother's reworked to suit this new bride in her way. The breathtaking venue, The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island was a childhood favorite vacation for Debby, and the sophisticated and elegant touches courtesy of Botanica, Design Elements, American Audio Visual and AFR made her feel at ease.

Debby's parting words to me that evening...?

"For the girl who didn't want all of this, I just don't want this day to end." Me either, Debby... This kind of wedding experience is what it's all about.

Sophistication, Glamour & Joy- A Ritz Carlton, Orlando Grande Lakes Wedding

This wedding was full of joy, and I was so delighted and proud to be a part of it-

All of the elements of a beautiful wedding were there: sophistication, glamour, amazing shoes {!!!} and the like, but I most especially loved the celebration of it all.

As in any and all wedding planning, this wedding required an extraordinary amount of care, planning and attention to detail. With delight, I was especially pleased to see the fun, laughing and dancing throughout the evening.

I wish this lovely couple, Relin and Michael a lifetime of joy and "1,000 blessings."

Thank goodness for her! As a wedding planner / designer, I am {what I would consider} well versed on patterns, colors, textures, etc. My challenge, however, sometimes lies in the articulation of such.

I am thoroughly fascinated by home front door decor. I absolutely adore strolling through neighborhoods carefully gazing at the elements that people choose to enhance that space.

Just like an invitation does for a wedding or event, front doors set the tone for what one can expect is inside that front door.

There are so many chic and whimsical ways to decorate for Halloween, front door and stoop included that I was eager to research and share.

From country homes to brownstones, Halloween {and any holiday, really!} is an excellent excuse to put on your creative hat and re-work that space.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month- My Pink Ploy ...

We may be just in the middle of Breast Cancer Awareness Month but I, admittedly, am only just getting on board. Ignorant? Perhaps, but I am certain I am/was not alone.

Organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure has made awareness and information so readily available and user friendly. There are 5K runs, fundraisers and specialty retail all dedicated to this worthy cause, so it's time to put our money where our mouth is.

As I am in prime "mammogram" age, I am ashamed it has taken me the constant pleas and urging from my husband to finally get a mammogram. They make it so easy, so why wouldn't I? Those were my own demons to reconcile but, alas, an appointment has been made for this Friday!

"Even the Brave Must Rest." A Grateful Tribute to a Radiant Bride, Laura Gillette

Life is good at teaching us lessons... The people we have in our life & the 24 hours we have in each day are precious and should be treated, loved & respected as such.

Unfortunately, sometimes through grief, we are reminded of these lessons. It is with a heavy heart today that I learn of my former bride Laura Grubl-Gillete's acceptance and decision to "peace out," because she is now "on a mission." {Her words}

Working with Laura and her mother Leslie was so much fun! I feel proud to have dubbed Leslie the name "Momma Sparkles," which is a nickname that has become a permanent one for her-- {yay!}

Smart, beautiful, driven, loving, organized, SPUNKY and thoughtful, Laura seemed to always smile from the inside.

For 10 months, MDS tried to define Laura but failed. She faced that as she did her wedding planning, her MBA and everything else in her life: with true grit, determination, great care and humor. She fought a strong fight not only for herself, but for her loving husband, Matt, her parents and brother.

I am forever grateful that I had the great fortune to be included in hers and her family's life for what was the most joyous and celebratory time in her life- her wedding and marriage to Matt.

Thank you, Laura for reminding me of a valuable lesson. I want to be a part of your "mission" and raise awareness for the National Bone Marrow Donor Program. Your life example, personality and virtues are attributes that I will share and teach my own daughters.

Your spirit is one I will forever celebrate and honor... Goodbye, sweet girl.

A Wedding Showcase Weekend as Presented by Hilton Orlando: Leisure and Pampering!

Part two of this incredible Wedding Showcase weekend that was expertly hosted by the Hilton Orlando is all about the pampering and leisure we experienced while in their accommodating hands.

After our welcome reception on Friday evening, we returned to our hotel suite to find a beautifully wrapped gift. After I stopped squealing long enough to successfully open this favor, I could see that it was a Clarisonic! {I had that on my Christmas wish-list} What a way to set the tone for the weekend, and I already felt spoiled, and yet ...there was more.

The next day we were all afforded private cabanas poolside, adjacent to the pool's slide and a separate lazy river. Jeffrey and I jokingly admitted that we gave new meaning to the word "lazy" in lazy river while our girls lived it up on countless rides down the water slide. The cabana offered our own private haven, out of the soon, flat screen television, fridge stuffed with water, soft drinks and fruit.

Impressive! So impressive in fact, that it was going to take a lot {and I mean A LOT!} to pull me away from my corner of paradise. I couldn't imagine what could possibly draw me away from that heavenly existence that I was thoroughly savoring with my husband and children.

Until I remembered I had a one hour Sweedish massage appointment in The Spa made on my behalf by Teresa Bernstein, Director of Local Catering! I, along with many of my wedding planner friends, were able to restore and refresh with relaxing treatments of our choice and then spend some quality, quiet time in the Relaxation room after. {I hope these ladies forgive my no-makeup picture posted!}

Given our seemingly frantic schedules with family and work, I cannot remember such an enjoyable weekend where I felt that great and had so much fun with not only my family, but my colleagues as well ... The memories and libations will be forever remembered as there was {yet another!} gift awaiting us upon check out, and placed in our car by valet. A digital picture frame along with a complete slideshow from the weekend's activities downloaded. Nice touch, wouldn't you say?

A Wedding Ceremony Reveal That Warms The Heart!

These 35 seconds where I privately revealed the ceremony site to Debby Hyatt-Rosenblatt and her mother Susan were absolutely priceless to me...

Every bride and her family deserves to feel this way from the moment their designs are revealed until they bid their guests farewell. This ceremony and chuppah design was the result of my always flawless collaboration with Ian Prosser of Botanica International Design.

I consider a reaction like this my emotional payment in full. Mazel Tov!

I have recently returned from a Wedding Showcase weekend {a FULL weekend!} that was graciously hosted by the Hilton Orlando, and it truly knock my stilettos off!

This weekend was so full; full of design, personal service, leisure, pampering and food and beverage that I struggled with the content of my review. The answer quickly became obvious: break it down into 3 posts!

Today, I will speak about the design and personal service that I encountered. Both were equally as extraordinary from the moment I received my hand-delivered invitation expertly crafted by Lindsey Luxa with Dragonfly Custom Design, checking in, thoughtful surprises and inspiring environments.

Theresa Bernstein and her attentive staff knew they had quite a task in trying to impress and indulge our areas finest wedding planners. {All of which were in the guest list and in attendance}

We've seen, done, designed and planned it all, right? Right! Read on...

A Wedding Video with "Hart!"

Working alongside weekend in and weekend out on all things audio visual {read: the BEST lighting!} with Tommy Hart over the last several years has been a delight to say the least.

I actually remember Tommy telling me about his first few dates with Christin, and I recall my immediate reaction to his almost "schoolboy-love" news, was one of feeling a bit protective over him, and I wanted to make sure she was well intentioned and a woman of equal "heart/HART"

Not only was I elated to meet Christin and her beautiful smile, but overwhelmed and proud to be alongside for the ride when they got married.

This couple is the real deal.

The wedding was one for the record books.

This wedding was all "HART!"

You never know where and how you may inspire someone. Becky and Chris Hall reached out shortly after Jeffrey and I were married after seeing our elopement video posted on the wonderful L.A. based blog, Be Inspired.

Already in the process of planning their home-based Chicago wedding something inspired them when they saw our video. {*tear!} They ultimately made a swift decision to elope in the mountains adjacent to their beloved Asheville, North Carolina.

Jeffrey and I were thrilled to be along for the ride in this exhilarating journey for them, and it was a wonderful opportunity to reminisce about our own fun-loving elopement experience! We also met the delightful Mandy Blair Bell on our most romantic, excellent adventure!

What I will sincerely take away from this particular wedding was the loving attention to detail in their ceremony and, of course, stylish details! Becky clearly has an affinity for Paloma's Nest like I do!

This past weekend, I, along with several of my fellow wedding planners and industry partners were the lucky guests of The Hilton Orlando for a Wedding Showcase FAM.

We were easily persuaded to visit with this new {2 years old} property in our area to learn more about it's offerings and, admittedly, for some R & R.

I'm confident I was not alone when I departed with my family from valet on Sunday with my jaw dropped in complete awe of my experience.

Amongst the millions reasons extraordinary, quality images captured by seasoned and experienced photographers are invaluable is the ability to literally and figuratively "freeze" time with one swift snap of the shutter.

While perusing the countless images I have for the weddings I have designed, I keep getting pulled to this stirring photograph by Garrett Nudd of the exquisite Jacqueline London and her mother as they made their way down the corridor to the chapel and ceremony.

I knew of their unyielding mother-daughter bond, but looking at this makes me pleasantly wonder...

What was said? What were they thinking? What were they FEELING?

Pride? Joy? Love?

I'm thinking ALL of the above!

Especially gratifying and fun is when there are multiple variables to consider!

In the wedding images featured above {by the delightful Sandra Johnson!} we "fused" Puerto Rican and Lithuanian heritage while honoring this well decorated military couple.

The fact that she {along with dashing hubby, Nathan Root} is an amazing photographer, marketing guru and blogger is one thing, but her sweet personality and loveable demeanor make her quite another.

My professional relationship with Root Photography will take us to The Abacos, Bahamas in December for a rustic-vintage wedding, and if you checked out any of my elopement images, then you have seen the genius there already ... My personal connection is pretty transparent. Once you get to know Jensey, you can't shake her. Jensey and Nathan are now family, and "Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Itching to work with: My amazing husband, Nathan Root! Seriously, though, even when we work with our favorite “friendors” in the industry, no one is better to work with than Nate. There’s no way I’d be doing this job if it didn’t mean spending 24 hours a day with that man! I know... I have a problem. ;)

Fashion Obsessions: I’ve always considered myself somewhat a fashion delinquent; I haven’t worn high heels since tumbling down the stairs at my high school graduation- True story! I do, however, love classic fashion and a good bow, so I tend to fall in love with Kate Spade all over again each season.

Beauty must-haves: My Clarisonic, Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, and MAC’s Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15. :)

Office/Work must haves: A cute husband to do all the “hard” stuff- Taxes, client communication, etc. I’m also a strong believer in keeping an active blog for your wedding business- I try to update ours every Monday-Friday, and it really has been our greatest tool!

Current work project: NOTHING! For the first time in a year, I’m 100% caught up on all editing, album designs, and blog posts. It’s a “Festivus miracle!”

Current personal project: Buying our first home. :)

Necessary extravagance: Stationery! Most of my friends collect shoes; I, on the other hand, have over 150 sets of stationery! My life would be much less exciting if it weren’t for spontaneous letters and trinkets in the mail from my “pen pals!”

If I weren’t an amazing wedding photographer I would: Be a stay at home Mom.

In my bag: Honest to goodness, my bag is currently lying on the floor at my feet with my 7 pound dog sleeping in it. :)

I have worked with many incredible brides and families in my years of wedding planning, and working with the Landis and Landau families proved to be equally as rewarding.

Some of my most memorable, fun and heartwarming moments {in my work life} came with this experience of working with bride, Vicky and her illuminating and devoted mother, Kate.

All they ever asked from me was "something different, something distinct." You see, this family is no stranger to entertaining and parties. I had my work cut out for me!

With this in mind, there was no other venue for them than The Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes, Orlando {Jessica Solomon was a dream!} and pulling in an amazing team who all worked seamlessly together.

"Cousin" Lee Forrest was brought on swiftly for floral and decor which complimented the amazing invitations and wedding paper designed by Amy Morelli with The 2u Collection.

Never stepping into a ballroom {or otherwise} without my lighting guru Tommy Hart, he, along with his team from American Audio Visual, executed the most breathtaking lighting for both the ceremony and reception. All of these amazing details and moments were expertly captured in this highlight video produced and edited by Jeffrey Stoner.

1) I recall the first day we had a "get to know ya" lunch. You were very engaging and asked lots of questions about me and my business. I appreciate when someone new does their share of the heavy-lifting in those situations, and you did.

2) Your nervous moments before Down The Aisle premiered in Denver. You were a bit quiet, and the room was all set up and ready. I walked up to you, put my arm around your shoulder and proudly said "look what you did".

3) Buying you a Christmas ornament – a small tree with shoes hanging from the branches. And no, we can not decorate the tree that way this year!

A recent "fan" of elopements of late, {ahem!} I had the great fortune to experience the loveliest of weddings two weeks ago.

Inspired by our very own elopement video which was graciously published on the Be Inspired PR blog, bride Rebecca seemingly sprung into "elopement action!"

Though swift in her planning, she did not miss a stylish, detailed beat but, most importantly, this was the MOST heartfelt and emotionally palpable wedding I have witnessed in my years. Admittedly, Jeffrey and I shared many "teary" glances throughout this very sweet, very love-enriched ceremony in gratitude for the choice we made to elope several months ago. {You see, you never know who you may inspire!}

They "announced" their wedding to a group of surprised guests in their home state of Illinois last weekend with this touching video produced by Jeffrey Stoner.

Wedding Invitations- Raising the Bar!

My goodness, have you seen anything so *swoon-worthy?*

This was hand delivered to my office yesterday wrapped in beautiful clear plastic and a purple satin bow. When I first set my eyes on this invitation I literally gasped !

I'd like to say that in my many years of being a wedding planner, I have "been there and seen that." My exposure to creativity in this industry is so incredibly vast, but this truly broke the mold.

Individually and carefully placed mums were placed on the "purse" where, inside, revealed a dupioni silk-wrapped invitation.

Intended as a luxury weekend sponsored by The Hilton, this can most certainly be the most divine invitation to an intimate wedding or bridal shower.

This extraordinary creation is from the creative collaboration between Lindsey Luxa with Dragonfly Custom Design and Flourish Floral Productions. I've had the great fortune to work with both of them, and their work {clearly} speaks for itself!

Sisterhood ...On Your Wedding Day and Every Day

As the mother of two extraordinary daughters, I think there is an incredible bond, relationship and {best} friendship that is created between sisters.

I am forever grateful that my daughters are closely connected and the best of friends, a trait that I found especially sweet with Leigh DeLorenzi and her sisters. Wedding Decor- {More!} Furniture Rentals

In a previous post, I mentioned how the use of furniture groupings not only enhances the look of a "typical" wedding reception, but also offers some glamour and respite for enthusiastic yet weary dancers adjacent to the dance floor.

For this particular on trend wedding that I designed in collaboration with AFR Event Furnishings and Tommy Murphy with Greenery Productions we used furniture EVERYWHERE!

Our guest dining tables, nearby lounge seating by the dance floor and even outside which was a downtown rooftop. I loved the crisp, hip vibe this look offered which perfectly defined my trend-setting couple!

I’ve know and respected his works for years, but because I am not a “day of” vendor, we have really never “technically worked together. • Current personal project: putting my library of 400 DVDs on hard drives so they are electronic and I can dive into Apple TV
• Necessary extravagance: I said it before, I’ll say it again. My IPHONE, and anything Mac.. They all make my job easier, so sadly, I would pay any price. (LOL which is I’m sure what apple counts on!)
• If I weren’t {a designer and business woman extraordinaire} I would: Lead camping/adventure expeditions. There is a hippie deep inside of me. I would miss all my girly things, but deep inside there is a bit of a country outdoorsy girl! Also if it didn’t break my heart so much I would open an animal rescue shelter. Someone needs to speak for them..
• In my bag: I’ve decided this year that less is more, so believe it or not I only have my wallet, phone, some lip gloss and a mini kleenex in my purse.. And of course as always bits of paper scraps that I collect because I’m obsessed with paper.

This past March, when I hear the news of your recent wedding to Mr. Stoner.. It was hilarious, because it was a secret, we were at an event, you whispered the news in my ear. I was surprised and shocked (in a good way) to say the least, and wanted to hear all about it, but then you said.. SHHHH.. it’s still a secret, don’t tell anyone. Then at that time, some fellow vendors walked up to see what we were so hush hush about and I could say nothing.. I was busting at the seams to the point that I jumped in the car, called Abby Liga to discuss (she already knew, so was one of the only ones I COULD discuss the secret with!!)

The all nighters I was pulling to make the Stults wedding stationery! I normally don’t have deadline problems, but since the bride came to me with elaborate requests 20 days.. YES 20 days before her wedding.. It was a challenge. You were fabulous dropping by the studio to pick up and deliver things, as I was seriously working non-stop for 20 days and nights to pull it off!! Your support is always appreciated and usually helps gets me through, both personally and professionally!
Shopping at Sams Club and the trophy store with you and Miss Liga for the Kickball party.. Was an adventure and as always-- laughter and silliness was everywhere!!

Personally, I seek to find inspiration at every turn and in every aspect of my every day life. It can be from a lovely trip to a new city, fashion and interior design editorials, nature and time spent with my family.

As a wedding planner, I bring this to the table with each of my clients, and after many insightful questions, I am always pleased to identify what inspires them. To bring their inspiration to life, however, it is paramount that I pair them p with not only the best of the best wedding professionals, but professionals that can accurately describe what inspires them as well. After all, the two go hand in hand ...

Anatomy of a Wedding- Furniture Rental

Of all of the many details that can go into designing a wedding environment, one of my favorites has to be incorporating furniture whenever and wherever I can.

During the first dance, after dinner and during the dancing, a comfortable and beautiful furniture grouping can make all the difference in look and vibe.

Wedding Decor- "Let There Be Light(ing) ! "

Our NYC Elopement- "Happily Ever After!"

Alas, here is the end our loving and fun-filled journey to our marvelous NYC elopement and all {most} of the fun details.

Whatever the scale of the wedding--grand, intimate, casual or formal; it's all about the details that tell your love story. I believe we achieved that!

While an elopement isn't ideal for everyone, {especially wedding planners!} it was unquestionably perfect for Jeffrey and I.

We had to come home and face the {glorious} music some time, and we definitely wanted to celebrate our marriage with our family and closest friends.

We really kept a low profile for about 10 days after our return and so no one. {We had a hearty and healthy Spring wedding season to thank for that!}

It was great fun to poke our heads from an overhead balcony and call out to our loved ones that we would join them monetarily. We had Jeffrey's beloved motorcycle tucked away out of sight from anyone, and we couldn't think of any better way to make our entrance.

Our NYC Elopement- Wedding Dinner ...at JUNIOR'S!

I suppose we could have planned a luxury 5 course dinner for our wedding dinner. There were only 6 of us after all, and it really could have been manageable and lovely.

Jeffrey and I definitely appreciate and enjoy innovative and sophisticated cuisine, but we were looking for something a little more ...mouthwatering. Oh, and ridiculously fun!

Jeffrey even put together this merry, short video of us along with the girls and Nathan and Jensey. Our server got a real kick out of the fact that we were in our wedding duds celebrating on Broadway with all of the fine folks at Junior's but, then again, you can see just about anything happen in NYC!

Our NYC Elopement- The Wedding Vendors!

Jeffrey and I enlisted the help and trust of 3 extraordinary partners to help us pull off the event of a lifetime.

By now, you have undoubtedly noticed the captivating images which have not only defined the hundreds of small moments and emotion but, most importantly, these images tell our story so honestly and wholly. Nathan served not only as a photographer, but as videographer on our day and Jensey helped me make last-minute fashion choices! Nathan also served as our witness on our marriage license, and we feel as if they were married into our family on that day ...

Jeffrey and I actually met our wonderfully personal officiant, Sarah Ritchie last year while we were working a wedding in NYC during an unprecedented blizzard. I fell in love with her ceremony style and persona in that experience, and was overjoyed to be able to call upon her again personally. She infused so many personal details about us as a couple, but also integrated family, friends and my daughters. We left feeling so connected to her, and remain in close touch with this beautiful soul to this day.

Our NYC Elopement- The Guest List!

One elopes to have a private, intimate wedding ceremony, correct? Well, sometimes...

Jeffrey and I knew that we were planning on getting married in a public place--a very well known public place at that! To a degree, we knew we would have to "share our space," but never could we have quite anticipated a couple hundred onlookers and "love" fans! You could have heard a pin drop, and we were able to listen and be aware and attentive as Sarah Ritchie performed the most beautiful, personal and meaningful wedding ceremony.

Our "guest list's" compliance to share the circle, their silence and reverence throughout our entire wedding ceremony will forever be one of those intangible memories that I will be forever grateful for!

Our NYC Elopement- Wedding Dress Brooch

My brooch bouquet was lacking the most endeared brooch that I possess. For this brooch needed a place to shine and "speak" all on it's own.

I considered my dress sash brooch my "something borrowed." Sweetly, it came by way of my daughters, Sara and Carolina!

This brooch had to stand out in it's own right, and I'm in love with the legacy it now offers our family. Jeffrey and I are eager to see where and in what instance the brooch will be adorned next!

Our NYC Elopement- Wedding T-Shirts

Some brides get exquisite peignoir sets for their wedding night, but Jeffrey and I decided to get matching T-shirts.

Kicking off the fun adventure of what was to be our elopement, was a trip to NYC 3 weeks before we got married to get our marriage license. {Side note: The Manhattan Clerk of Courts is THE most fun ever!}

While we waited for our number to be called, we cheerfully looked on as couples {of ALL sorts} were actually getting married, browsed through a vending machine that offered bouquets and boutonnieres and a browsed through their super-fun gift shop.

Behold, a t-shirt design with a red heart in the front and the slogan, "i got married on new york city."

La Perla can keep their fussy lace and satin. I totally dig our wedding t-shirts!

To know that the person you love resolutely wants to marry you is a loving recognition and source of pride in and of itself, but to have a testament to the likes of THIS wedding ring is the ultimate badge and compliment!

Sometimes {and incorrectly} dubbed "the non-marrying type," Jeffrey actually did want to wear a wedding ring, it just had to be ...different, and not mainstream at all. That's a pretty tall order, but, determined we were ...

Look closely...that is my index fingerprint wrapped around Jeffrey's ring!

Once someone touches your heart, the fingerprints will last forever...

I fell in love with this idea to hang a wedding dress and / or wedding suit after years of seeing beautiful wedding couture on flimsy, unattractive hangers.

I couldn't resist ordering one for Jeffrey as well, and the wedding dress and wedding suit hang side by side in our closet today.

Our extraordinary and insightful officiant, Sarah Ritchie actually surprised us with the yellow balloons on our wedding day. In fact, as we were making our way towards Central Park, I saw these yellow balloons across the street walking parallel to us and sighed--I loved the look of them so very much. Little did I know at the time that it was Sarah making her way towards the park as well.

Yes, even the color yellow is special to Jeffrey and I, and here's why ...

Our NYC Elopement- The Boutonnière

After a 5 year friendship, the best of friends really, it was pretty unrefined step into our new, romantic relationship to say the very least!

To make light of our first "date" I spontaneously stopped into a florist shop and ordered a yellow boutonniere. I often joked during that that evening was starting to feel like we were making plans for going to the prom.

I never knew that Jeffrey had tucked this away in a personal safe from that very night, and I was only reintroduced to it mere moments before we stepped into our beloved IMAGINE circle...

Our NYC Elopement- The Wedding Cake

Admittedly, I didn't even give wedding cake a singular thought. I mean, we eloped, managed to keep this marvelous secret, arranged to get the two best photographers out there with us, asked hundreds of people of they wouldn't mind stepping out of the "IMAGINE" circle for 15 minutes or so, had a dream-like ceremony... "Winning," right?

The 6 of us were strolling the streets of NYC later in the evening, and Jeffrey, Sara, Carolina, Nathan and Jensey's sweet tooth kicked in! Luckily, our hotel in Soho was mere blocks away from Little Italy, so the choice to visit Ferrara Bakery seemed clear. {And necessary!}

I believe it was Jensey who spotted this delightful confection, and she and Nathan absolutely insisted on buying it for us. We couldn't deny such a "sweet" gesture!

Back to the hotel we went for our formal cake cutting ...in our pajamas!

Believe it or not, for me, wait for it ...No! Of course, the "right"dress was of extreme importance to me, but I had a bigger picture in mind for the elopement.

I just wanted to feel beautiful and look timeless. I hope I hit the mark! Jeffrey was extremely supportive in my search, but surprisingly the search was brief and painless.

Our NYC Elopement- Romantic, Sweet Details

As I began the "secret" quest for the brooches, {I couldn't truly reveal the reason why I was recruiting brooches!} it was such a happy accident to stumble across this little piece of gum with a big story.

The search for brooches prompted my mother in law to stroll down memory lane and share her findings with Jeffrey and I one day over lunch.

The story of the gum had such a romantic, sweet nod from the courtship of Jeffrey's grandparents that, in that instant, we knew we had to incorporate it somehow.

Jeffrey had this piece of gum in his suit pocket for the entire day ...

Our NYC Elopement- The Brooch Bouquet

Obtaining these heirlooms, trinkets and bobbles was initially no easy feat! We had told most everyone that we were getting married in April ...!

Not only were we eloping in March, but I had to gather and send these items off to the extraordinarily talented Amanda Heer of Brooch Bouquets and Fantasy Floral in California!

My efforts more than paid off the instant I saw my bouquet for the first time. I was touched with the willingness and generosity for which I received each and every piece, and to see it all come together was a moment I will never soon forget. While we still admire it today, I plan on handing off these special pieces to my daughters during important milestones in their lives as well.

Jeffrey and I joked in New York {as I was stopped every few feet or so it seemed, so people could take pictures of it} that it was a "rock star."

We still believe that it is.

Our NYC Elopement- When and Why?

March 20, 2011. The loveliest day of the year ...

This detail was truly great fun to plan, but also one of great fortune. Once we had determined we would get married in Strawberry Fields, we continued to diligently find meaningful details, inclusive of the date, to permanently commemorate our wedding day.

Of most importance to us was the fact that March 20th {1969, and the year I was born} happens to be John Lennon and Yoko Ono's wedding anniversary. The great fortune I referenced came to us by way of the fullest moon we had seen in 18 years, the start of Spring and a rare day off during our busy {professional} wedding season.

While Jeffrey and I agree that these pointed details were of considerable importance, we agreed then, as we still do now, that ..."All you need is love."

We had a few spots of great importance to us, and I even toyed around the idea of Paris, France for the sheer romance of it all! In the end, the where, when and why could not have been a more perfect solution for us. As I always advise my very own clients, the details of your wedding need to make sense. Does this {detail} tell your story individually and as a couple? Does it make sense?

Set the Scene: Wedding Stationery

I love "setting the scene" everywhere I can when designing and planning a wedding.

It is said that the tone for your wedding or event is set immediately with the invitation. I couldn't agree more! I advise my clients to take every effort to carry that idea or "tone" with regards to wedding stationery all the way through--Invitations, escort cards, menus, etc.

Here, in collaboration with Darcy Sang of Pearl Beach Paperie, we took our client Jennifer's inspiration {which was actually artwork featuring still life!} and incorporated the colors and vibe from that piece. She wanted an opulent, European-style "feast" and the paper accurately reflected all of her sensibilities.

She was thrilled, I was thrilled and so was ..."Weddings Unveiled!"

As a father of four beautiful and successful daughters, {now independent women, wives and mothers}it was difficult for me to grasp the emotion and pride that was going through Mr. deArmas' head and heart as he danced with the youngest daughter on the day she married her love, A.J.

THESE wedding pros eloped! Jeffrey and I, that is!}

Though a secret, I "carried" my friends with me the whole time ... I commissioned the wildly creative and talented Amanda Heer with Fantasy Floral Designs to design my brooch bouquet. I secretly asked for brooches from my mother and Jeffrey's mother telling them that I was doing a speaking engagement on the use of family heirlooms in weddings. {sneaky!} I also asked my very best girlfriends for some treasures as well to incorporate into the bouquet along with many sentimental pieces I had in there from my beautiful daughters and mementos of our fun love story. I simply adore it, and plan on passing these items down to Sara and Carolina as they reach milestones in their lives.

The locale, Strawberry Fields in Central Park, along with our amazing officiant / celebrant, Sarah Ritchie {and the 100+ onlookers that shared our ceremony with us!} made for a most unforgettable, memorable and loving experience. We could not have asked for more on that sunny, brisk day in NYC ...a dream come true for me personally.

Lauren Williams-Pellarin wanted a meaningful and "good looking" wedding. Her husband, Ryan Pellarin wanted his friend and family to have a good time.

This is a great example of the "perfect marriage!" The Catholic ceremony was exceptionally meaningful as a long-time friend of Ryan's performed the ceremony, the church looked ethereal and the reception at Lake Nona Country Club looked beautiful and the party --PARTIED! {Even grandpa: wow!}
