Cheers! Peach Jalapeño Margaritas and Georgia Tech

For those of you who caught my post on Facebook and Instagram yesterday, celebrating my daughter's acceptance and financial awards to Georgia Tech, I posted this picture of this scrumptious each jalapeño recipe, which is courtesy of Dessert for Two, and promised the recipe...Here it is!
Yields 2 cocktails : www.DessertForTwo.com Ingredients For the jalapeño simple syrup: ½ cup sugar ½ cup water ½ of a fresh jalapeno, sliced in half For the margaritas: 2 ripe peaches, pitted and diced 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice ¼ cup jalapeño simple syrup 1-2 shots of silver tequila optional: extra lime juice for the rim of the glass salt or sugar for the rim of the glass Instructions First, make the simple syrup: in a small saucepan combine the sugar, water and jalapeño. Bring to a simmer while smashing the jalapeño with a wooden spoon to extract the flavor. Once it boils, remove from heat and let cool completely. Transfer to a container and chill in the fridge until ready to use. To make the margaritas: blend the diced peaches, lime juice, ¼ cup of the jalapeño simple syrup, and tequila in a blender. Add a handful of ice cubes and blend until slushy. Enjoy garnished with lime and jalapeño slices. Cheers, friends! xx, LS

Family, Fun, Food and Fireworks!

Happy {almost!} Independence Day! I thought I would share some stylish inspiration with a couple of days notice so that you can raise your celebration to the next, swanky level for the 4th, whether it be entertaining at home for a crowd, or a close-to-home {read: backyard!} picnic with your love and your family. Entertaining with fun food and chic decor is just another way of letting "your freedom ring!"
Fun place settings can make all the difference!
Happy Fourth, my friends!

Super Bowl Party Planning vs. Wedding Planning

Super Bowl 46 is upon us, and let's face it ...you could use a welcome break from wedding planning!

This is a rare circumstance where you will find me actually taking the "theme" and running with it. The kitschy details are plentiful: invitations, food display, activities...the possibilites and your creativity can be endless-

I adore the above invitation from a simple jewelry box, the Super Bowl Bingo and commercial rating paddles, {via Jeff Mindell Photography} the whimsical tablescape and signature cocktails-

Think about this welcome reprieve from wedding planning: you don't have to worry about your decor looking "too much," D.I.Y projects are applauded rather than judged, dress is casual and you can eat indulgent {i.e., unhealthy!} foods and concern yourself with only fitting in your jeans and not your wedding dress!

Admittedly, I am no sports {let alone football} enthusiast, so in the spirit of "if you can't bet 'em, join 'em," I party plan.

Because let's face it, I'm really in it for the perfect outfit {Thanks, "What I Wore!"} and Puppy Bowl...
