Celebrate: Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco (!) fun ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! Uno: This holiday wouldn't be complete without the perfect margarita! My favorite girlfriends at Glitter Guide offer us 2 recipes for the price of one...Love the rosemary garnish!
Dos: Guacamole! Everyone has terra cotta pots somewhere, don't they? I love this idea of serving my personal favorite food item for Cinco de Mayo this way...
Tres: A Piñata! If you don't have access to fresh floral like this, {or let's face it, the budget!} you can achieve this same look by making paper cones around the sphere in place of the floral. Just be sure to be bold and use bright "Cinco" colors!
Cuatro: Canned Centerpieces?? Well, sort of! Admittedly, I scrambled and made a bunch of recipes last week in need of canned tomatoes, but you can see why! I love the whimsy that the cans, which serve as vases, offers to the overall look. This was great inspiration found on HGTV.
Cinco: Por favor! A favor, that it! If you are entertaining, this is an adorable and affordable way to send them home with fun memories from your Cinco soiree. Succulent plants are so popular and easy to care for:
Felicidades!! xx, LS

Bits and Pieces: Derby Style!

While my experiences with horses may be limited to my summer camps of yesteryear experiences, you must all know by now that I require no rationalism when the opportunity for entertaining presents itself, and the annual Kentucky Derby is certainly no exception! How about a little inspiration?

A little style and savoir faire for the gentlemen? Not to worry!

And my personal favorite for the perfectly appointed chapeau, ladies!

Finally, if the celebration is just too goo to break away from, {and I suspect it will be!} then yes, "there's an app for that!"

Now, you're all set to raise your mint julep cup, and enjoy that fastest two minutes in sports!
 Cheers! xx, LS

Cheers! Peach Jalapeño Margaritas and Georgia Tech

For those of you who caught my post on Facebook and Instagram yesterday, celebrating my daughter's acceptance and financial awards to Georgia Tech, I posted this picture of this scrumptious each jalapeño recipe, which is courtesy of Dessert for Two, and promised the recipe...Here it is!
Yields 2 cocktails : www.DessertForTwo.com Ingredients For the jalapeño simple syrup: ½ cup sugar ½ cup water ½ of a fresh jalapeno, sliced in half For the margaritas: 2 ripe peaches, pitted and diced 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice ¼ cup jalapeño simple syrup 1-2 shots of silver tequila optional: extra lime juice for the rim of the glass salt or sugar for the rim of the glass Instructions First, make the simple syrup: in a small saucepan combine the sugar, water and jalapeño. Bring to a simmer while smashing the jalapeño with a wooden spoon to extract the flavor. Once it boils, remove from heat and let cool completely. Transfer to a container and chill in the fridge until ready to use. To make the margaritas: blend the diced peaches, lime juice, ¼ cup of the jalapeño simple syrup, and tequila in a blender. Add a handful of ice cubes and blend until slushy. Enjoy garnished with lime and jalapeño slices. Cheers, friends! xx, LS

Wedding Highlight Film: Lauren Kay and Adam Soufleris

All weddings that I have the opportunity and fortune to be a part of always touch me in one way or another. I have to say that this one, however, touched me in so many ways. Working closely with Lauren Kay and her effervescent and graceful mother, Kristine truly impacted me. I am so appreciative when I, too, can learn or re-learn, what is at the heart of love for your partner and love for your family. Lauren and Kristine reminded me of that in so many ways.
I urge you to watch this highlight film all the way through; it's worth your time and heart! Such beautiful gestures, a marvelous backdrop at The Ringling Museum of Art; even a surprise performance of "All you Need is Love" during the recessional! {as inspired by everybody's favorite romantic comedy, Love Actually!} And for the record, my FAVORITE vows in my career. Just beautiful!

Real Weddings: Anne Decker and Scott Gloden at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Anne and Scott's wedding was SUPER fun to plan and design! They are soccer enthusiasts both personally and professionally, but they wanted themselves and their wedding environment to appear sophisticated, yet resemble their fun, easy nature as well. BINGO!
I particularly enjoyed dividing a large ballroom into a "dining area" and "dance/lounge" area. This made for an elegant dinner party, followed by a lively parry and dance celebration!
Keeping the tables fresh and contemporary had Anne and Scott's name {literally!} written all over them! These acrylic table numbers were EVERYTHING, and Anne and Scott even keep theirs by their nightstand to this day, as I understand!
Sooo dreamy, right??
The reveal! I loved watching Anne taking it all in ...
That bouquet!
The sweetest parents you ever want to know, Veronica and Dr. Decker~
And, I always love, love, love the relationships I forge with the mommas, and Veronica is as great as they get!

StyleWatch: Bridesmaids Sweatpants!

Let's face it: the "getting ready" portion of the wedding can be pretty grueling! You know, between professional hair and makeup, mimosas and giggles, a girl HAS to be comfortable!
Can we take a moment to ogle over these yummy yoga-style sweatpants?? And while, you're at it, consider these comfy tanks too!

Wedding Highlight Film: Ashley Jacoby and Greg Ostrowicki at The Ritz Carlton, Buckhead

Sooooo many lovely details from this wedding at the exquisite Ritz Carlton, Buckhead, but my favorite is one that cannot be seen. Though this reaction below from Ashley and Greg during their ballroom reveal comes pretty close! Amy Saltzman with A Legendary Event was my fearless partner in all things decor, and I'd work with her 365 days a year if I could!
The fact is, however, that this was my second wedding for this family, and the relationships that I have had the great fortune to make with the Jacoby family during both planning processes have the most value to me.
Okay, enough with the mushy stuff...Look how the reveal above evolved into the evening you'll see here in this video below.

Wedding Day Moments: The Daddy Reveal

There are fewer precious moments on a wedding day than the "Daddy reveal." I highly encourage that you make room on your wedding day timeline to make this happen... Chills and tears every time! xoxo

Ringling Museum Wedding: Michelle and Paul

You are going to want to grab a glass of wine and a Kleenex for this one, friends! Michelle and Paul were childhood sweethearts, {listen to the pastor during the ceremony!} and let me tell you, love and style were in the air! A perfect Florida day with a Sarasota pink sunset, a ceremony and cocktail hour at the awe-inspiring Ringling Museum, and a lovely reception at The Ritz Carlton. It, and this couple, don't get much more perfect than that! *Video Courtesy of Jeffrey Stoner Video*

3 Favorite Wedding Moments: Melissa & Cinto's Video Highlight

3 favorite parts of this wedding highlight video: * The way they look at each other while standing underneath their spectacular chuppah with that light shining behind them. * The way Melissa & her dad "high five" each other after their dance! * The bride jumps for joy after her groom breaks the glass. Mazel Tov! Thank you to the always brilliant Jeffrey Stoner for videos that always seem to make me cry. ♥

Happy Anniversary William and Kate!

Two years ago, I would argue that this wedding single-handedly changed our approach to wedding planning and design with regards to the wedding gown, bouquet, decor {living trees in the church ceremony!} maid of honor dress {white!} engagement rings, and even the "getaway." {oh, that Aston Martin!} Wouldn't you agree? Happy Anniversary to the charismatic William and Kate! ♥

Marriage Equality: Love is Love

This is a human rights issue, and not a gay issue. Love is love, and I have and always will support LOVE.
