Noteworthy Wedding Vendors- Garrett Nudd !
I've made wonderful connections and acquaintances by way of wedding industry colleagues along the course of this marvelous career of mine from all over the world and country.
Every now and then, I'll listen reeeeeeeaalllllly close to that inner voice in my head when I feel like something or, in this case, someone is just different. I remain grateful that I took heed and listened to that voice 5 years ago when I {almost didn't!} met Garrett Nudd. Now, I get to rock weddings out with a phenomenal photographer that is a close and dear friend and have gained an extended family to make my fortunate situation almost surreal.
After our first {seriously, almost didn't happen!} "introduction," our first friend date was in my office with his delightful and lovable wife, Joy and their adorable baby, Graycen. To my extreme pleasure, they've added to this deliriously happy brood with sweet, you-can-just-take-a-bite-out-of-her-cheeks Campbell ...
If I have the pleasure to speak with you, please ask me about the day I met Garrett. It's a good story, and I'm so glad it's ours to tell-
In a nutshell-- Garrett Nudd!
Itching to work with: I'm blessed to work side by side with my lovely and talented wife Joy. It works so well for us and it makes our life together significantly more rewarding. There's honestly no one else that I'd rather work with day in and day out. Otherwise, if I were to interpret the question as who would I like to photograph.... lately I've really been itching to do some portraits of various current pop-culture influencers. Adam Levine of Maroon 5 has rushed back into the spotlight with The Voice, colorful British golfer and fashion designer Ian Poulter, tv personality Jimmy Fallon, film stars Kera Knightly and Anne Hathaway, more singers/musicians than I have room to list but at the top would be Phil Collins and Jon Bon Jovi (not necessarily together). And last but not least, do I dare admit that I think I'd enjoy photographing the cast of the ridiculously overly popular Twilight saga? Not because I'm a raging fan like many others that I know, but it's just that they all seem to be so genuinely nice. ;-)
Fashion obsessions: I love shoes, which a lot of people who know me already know. And I'm also really fond of belts. When I'm traveling I usually pack a different belt for each outfit.
Beauty must-haves: well that's fairly obvious...hair glue, of course.
Office/Work must haves: a generous bounty of dark chocolate and peanuts. When your office supply list consists of more food than paper/ink/pens/tape/staples, etc., you know you're in trouble.
Speed dialing: Joy, my parents, my in-laws and Paco's Mexican restaurant in Winter Park, FL for take-out.
Can't get enough of: Just about anything from Trader Joe's.
Jonesing to: Return to Europe and spend all afternoon sitting at a sidewalk cafe just watching people while sipping an over-priced European soda.
Current work project: remodeling our studio & boutique in Chattanooga. It's a never-ending labor of love.
Current personal project: positioning our family to be in the running for our neighborhood Yard of the Month... just kidding! Let's see, something that's actually attainable.... To be honest, my current personal project is trying to teach myself to intentionally seek out ways to make a difference. I was at lunch with a friend years ago when I worked in corporate communications and he commented, "look at all of these people hurrying around on their lunch break. Every one of them thinks their job is the most important job in the world." It's easy to become self-absorbed, especially when we're busy, but it's important to take time and observe others.
Necessary extravagance: I'm pretty simple. My only consistent upgrade is paying an additional $1.79 to add guacamole to my tacos at Chipotle.
If I weren't a photographer I would be: a magazine editor or a college professor teaching writing, public relations and photography. Each year I spend two weeks teaching a photography intensive at my alma matter and it's something I eagerly anticipate every year. I love watching light bulbs turn on in people's heads.
In my bag: In my Think Tank camera bag I have a mix of both Nikon and Canon camera gear. It's a hot complicated mess in there. Plus, it makes wedding guests think I'm really really good. I can't figure it out, but camera brands (like computers: mac vs. pc) are so polarizing for lots of people, as if you shoot one brand and I shoot another, than I'm superior to you. Blah, whatever. So if an ammeter photographer wedding guest approaches me with their camera and asks me what I'm shooting, I tell them Nikon and Canon and usually they raise their eyebrows giving me enough time to sneak away and get back to work. In my golf bag I have Calloway irons, a Taylor Made driver, and my putter is a classic old Wilson 8802 that I've used since I was in high school.
Recent discovery: I thought that having a child in kindergarden would automatically generate lots of free time with her being away for 8 hours a day, but all of a sudden it makes life for our family really busy. Joy is an amazing mom and she juggles everything so gracefully. We both help out by volunteering in the classroom as often as time permits.
Craving: Pacos in Winter Park, Paxia in College Park, No Mas in Atlanta. Yes, they're all Mexican restaurants.
Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks
There are quite simply too many to list, but my four favorites (in no particular order) are:
1. Doing the giant inflatable slip-n-slide at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island with Joy, you, Jeffrey, Jessy and Bligh
2. You and Jeffrey surprising us at our Cobblestone Rue grand opening in Chattanooga
3. Celebrating with you and Jeffrey at your post-wedding shindig in Winter Park
4. The never-ending vendor dinner at Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman thanks to the imaginations of Jessy Rivers and Joy Nudd and the generous hospitality budget of Tami Corday.

Noteworthy Wedding Vendors- Jeffrey Stoner !
So, you KNOW this one was coming, didn't you??
I have actually made a conscious effort to not feature my handsome and talented husband and videographer right off the bat with this Q & A series, but some of his "fans" were relentless!
Turns out many of you love him {almost!} as much as I do ...It really is so easy. {Just look at those eyes!}
Here you go, the wildly amusing Jeffrey Stoner!
·Itching to work with: Honestly, anyone with a positive attitude who takes joy in their work. It doesn't matter if they are new to the industry or long-time friends, I love the positive energy and fun it creates.
·Fashion Obsessions: Left to my own devices, I'm a worn-out jeans, t-shirt, and Converse kinda' guy. Not that I can't appreciate a well-manicured look as well.
·Beauty must-haves: My purrty wife on my arm. That always makes me look better.
·Office/Work must haves: Great headphones (Skullcandy and Dr. Dre Beats are excellent), a late-afternoon power nap, a steady flow of morning coffee.
·Speed dialing: What's speed dial ?
·Can’t get enough of: The new Butch Walker & The Black Widows album.
·Jonesing to: Visit Greece. Wanna' go?
·Current work project: Finalizing Vicky & Danny's Ritz Carlton wedding, a web project for Kristy Chenell, and brainstorming a fun promotion for my own biz.
·Current personal project: Tending to middle-age with proper diligence with a daily 3-mile walk and eating healthier! I've dropped nearly 10 pounds since in the last 6 weeks since seeing a particularly unflattering photo of myself.
·Necessary extravagance: iPod. I don't go anywhere without it.
·If I weren’t a videographer I would: Like to do something with animals. Is there a job where you can get paid to pet dogs all day? No?
·Recent discovery: A band called The Postelles.
·Craving: More sweets than I currently allow myself to have (and that's the case no matter how much I have)
*Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks*
Since we started out as friends, I'll list a few from then:
1) I recall the first day we had a "get to know ya" lunch. You were very engaging and asked lots of questions about me and my business. I appreciate when someone new does their share of the heavy-lifting in those situations, and you did.
2) Your nervous moments before Down The Aisle premiered in Denver. You were a bit quiet, and the room was all set up and ready. I walked up to you, put my arm around your shoulder and proudly said "look what you did".
3) Buying you a Christmas ornament – a small tree with shoes hanging from the branches. And no, we can not decorate the tree that way this year!

Noteworthy Wedding Vendors...Amy Morelli!
My extraordinary job as a wedding planner has afforded me so many rewards, but none more important than the relationships that evolve between my clients and my vendors. {Or, "friendors" as my wedding friends would say!}
With more and more of our beautiful couples planning their wedding from out of area or state, sometimes a face-to-face meeting is not always possible. And, even when they are, of course, the professional basics are {and should be!} covered.
Don't you want to know more?? Yeah, me too ... !
AMY MORELLI- Onwner, The 2u Collection
• Itching to work with: I am itching to work with Jeffrey Stoner on something. I’ve know and respected his works for years, but because I am not a “day of” vendor, we have really never “technically worked together. I’ve been trying to cook up a project forever so we can work together, but video and stationery don’t seem to pair well. But never fear, I now how something in the "hoper", that I am hoping will work out so that we can finally fulfill this itch!
• Fashion Obsessions: A different pair of sunglasses for everyday.. Believe it or not for some strange reason I love sunglasses as much as I love paper!
• Beauty must-haves: an amazing hair stylist.. Mine is fab!! and I am lucky she can always keep me happy.. I get bored easily and really want to change my hair monthly.. She has yet to disappoint
• Office/Work must haves: Colored Felt Tip Fine Point Pens…Love them, Makes boring admin tasks vibrant and bright! I love me some good color coding!
• Speed dialing: Abby Liga, photographer and bestie.. And my mom..
• Can’t get enough of: cheese.. I LOVE cheese and would eat it at every meal if I could.
• Jonesing to: Close this Big Secret Project I mentioned below. I am confident, but nothing is better than having a signature on the line, so I can move forward into conception and design stage!! which of course is my favorite part!
• Current work project: a Big Secret Project in the Works-- and Beautiful Silk Pewter Hardbound book invites with letterpress and crystals!! Love Love Love letterpress!
• Current personal project: putting my library of 400 DVDs on hard drives so they are electronic and I can dive into Apple TV
• Necessary extravagance: I said it before, I’ll say it again. My IPHONE, and anything Mac.. They all make my job easier, so sadly, I would pay any price. (LOL which is I’m sure what apple counts on!)
• If I weren’t {a designer and business woman extraordinaire} I would: Lead camping/adventure expeditions. There is a hippie deep inside of me. I would miss all my girly things, but deep inside there is a bit of a country outdoorsy girl! Also if it didn’t break my heart so much I would open an animal rescue shelter. Someone needs to speak for them..
• In my bag: I’ve decided this year that less is more, so believe it or not I only have my wallet, phone, some lip gloss and a mini kleenex in my purse.. And of course as always bits of paper scraps that I collect because I’m obsessed with paper.
• Recent discovery: PAPER RINGS.. check out today’s blog post at the2ucollection.blogspot.com you’ll see why I’m in love.. Amazing Feats with Paper fascinate me
• Craving: lately I have been craving guac.. Which I learned how to make from you!!
*Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks*
This past March, when I hear the news of your recent wedding to Mr. Stoner.. It was hilarious, because it was a secret, we were at an event, you whispered the news in my ear. I was surprised and shocked (in a good way) to say the least, and wanted to hear all about it, but then you said.. SHHHH.. it’s still a secret, don’t tell anyone. Then at that time, some fellow vendors walked up to see what we were so hush hush about and I could say nothing.. I was busting at the seams to the point that I jumped in the car, called Abby Liga to discuss (she already knew, so was one of the only ones I COULD discuss the secret with!!)
The all nighters I was pulling to make the Stults wedding stationery! I normally don’t have deadline problems, but since the bride came to me with elaborate requests 20 days.. YES 20 days before her wedding.. It was a challenge. You were fabulous dropping by the studio to pick up and deliver things, as I was seriously working non-stop for 20 days and nights to pull it off!! Your support is always appreciated and usually helps gets me through, both personally and professionally!
Shopping at Sams Club and the trophy store with you and Miss Liga for the Kickball party.. Was an adventure and as always-- laughter and silliness was everywhere!!

Your Wedding Vendors: What Inspires THEM ?
Personally, I seek to find inspiration at every turn and in every aspect of my every day life. It can be from a lovely trip to a new city, fashion and interior design editorials, nature and time spent with my family.
As a wedding planner, I bring this to the table with each of my clients, and after many insightful questions, I am always pleased to identify what inspires them. To bring their inspiration to life, however, it is paramount that I pair them p with not only the best of the best wedding professionals, but professionals that can accurately describe what inspires them as well. After all, the two go hand in hand ...
Below is an "inspiring" and even touching video of what inspires some of the best wedding professionals here in Orlando that I had the profound honor to collaborate with at my most recent production of "Unveiled."
Fancy this ...!

"Flipping Out!" Behind the scenes with Lisa's flip camera at Kara & Greg Olsen's wedding!
I have had my silly little flip camera for well over a year now. I primarily got it to document the behind the scenes wedding set and details for my brides who are always anxious and curious to see how things are moving along as they get beautiful in preparation for their big walk down the aisle.
I have been toting that camera attached to my hip at nearly every wedding now, and resolve to share the "flip-fun" with all of you-
Here is my first attempt at "publishing" them. You may notice the video{s} are very low-tech, very "raw" and very fun! Fear not videographers...your jobs are still safe and well-positioned despite my new documentary prowess!

UNBRIDLED: My favorite wedding friends like...Ryan Joseph!

This week, {as if he needs any formal introduction} I’d like for everyone to get to know Ryan Joseph a bit better. That’s right…the REAL Ryan Joseph.
While I was most definitely aware of Ryan and his impressive repertoire of photography well before I actually met him, I feel I truly got to know this fun spirit last summer during our “Down the Aisle” endeavor at The Ritz Carlton in Denver.
Heavily influenced by the masters of the 30’s and 40’s, Ryan combines today’s digital technology with traditional techniques to create images that are not only contemporary, but timeless as well. Ryan shares a unique boutique studio with his lovely wife, Elena in the historic, Ybor City district.
We had some great laughs and memories as a group, and together, I feel we really got to know one another better.
…and so did all of his screaming “fans” in Denver!
Oh, and Ryan, I remember those Mojitos that you reference below…just take a look at that “adoring” picture! {Touché for flashbacks #2 and #3!!}
•Itching to work with: Lenny Kravitz. Couldn't think of a better portrait subject other than Stoner.
•Fashion Obsessions: Although I only have one, I'd love to have more "ink".
•Beauty must-haves: Short & Sexy hair wax. My hair is neither short nor sexy however.
•Office/Work must haves: FILM!!! I still love this medium. Also, a good scanner.
•Speed dialing: Everyone. Don't ask me for anyone's number from memory. Check the IPhone.
•Can’t get enough of: My Gia and her Mommy
•Jonesing to: Be back in Tuscany with Elena at our favorite "trattoria".
•Current work project: Very top secret
•Current personal project: See above
•Necessary extravagance: Travel and Wine. Not necessarily in that order. If you know me, wine "while" traveling is most necessary. Not a big fan of flying.
•If I weren’t a photographer I would be: A pilot. Yes. That's right. A wine drinking pilot.
•In my bag: Who told you I carry a "man" bag? My wife? It's not a "bag" it’s a "satchel". Big difference.
•Recent discovery: That maybe I do actually carry a bag. Hmmm. No. It's a satchel. End of story!!!
•Craving: To one day own an original Cartier-Bresson photograph.
*Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks*
1. Mojito’s in Denver. How many? Not sure. Ask Stoner.
2. Our first lunch together in Orlando. Ian was there. You had this piece large of broccoli in your teeth but I didn't have the nerve to tell you.
3. Your reaction to #2. Just kidding. It wasn't broccoli it was asparagus. Just kidding again. You have very nice dental hygiene.

UNBRIDLED: Getting to know my favorite wedding friends like...Maria Shafer!

Celebration expert, Maria Shafer has had over 15 years working {and let's face it--playing!} in the field of wedding entertainment. Maria clearly love what she does and even explains it in a way only she can:
"I think that is part of what drew me to specialize in weddings – those unique characteristics. Every weekend I see something new… it's like watching a fantastic summer blockbuster movie…and I can't wait to see how it all turns out! Every week a different surprise. Every reception a unique experience. And I am a part of it all. Is there any wonder I love what I do?"
If you are looking for a more probing and in-depth glimpse into this clever and witty soul, then I invite you to read further...
Grab your coffee, {after all, I know she would!} and enjoy getting to know Maria Shafer, "Disc Jockey…and total nerd..."
• Itching to work with: Jeffrey Stoner…it’s been a while.
• Fashion Obsessions: Converse, good jeans, super cool t-shirts .
• Beauty must-haves: Philosophy products…Ginger Midgett got me hooked!
• Office/Work must haves: Batteries. I could say something super clever here, but it seems like that is the one product I am always missing…batteries. And Skittles. I seem to be out of Skittles as well. Yep…always seem to be out of batteries and Skittles…and gold bricks. Serious lack of gold bricks…but, then, I’ve digressed. Batteries.
• Speed dialing: I used to have a numerical speed dial, but with the Blackberry I use the alpha index. Most dialed is Mike, my boyfriend, and my BFF Ginger Midgett (Ginger Midgett Photography). Okay…I admit…if there IS a speed dial on the Blackberry, I cannot figure it out. I can figure out Facebook…but not the friggin’ speed dial.
• Can’t get enough of: Mike’s awesome Bloody Marys. That sort of makes me sound like an alcoholic…but I don’t drink that many…and only on Sunday mornings…if there isn’t a gig. I swear.
• Jonesing to: Turn on the Ipod and write…but I have work to do…(see next item)
• Current work project: At I write this, helping a friend work out music for his super fun 40th birthday party. It’s fun, mostly because I get to totally laugh at all his baby pics…and he isn’t here to defend himself. (Is that mean?)
• Current personal project: Two novels and a couple of short stories in progress.
• Necessary extravagance: Yoga. But its only an extravagance to some people…I’ve been practicing for a couple of years now regularly, and it’s become an addiction of sorts. Definitely necessary.
• If I weren’t a DJ, I would: be a novelist. Simple as that.
• In my bag: The winning Powerball ticket…please and thank you. I’d have probably won by now if everyone else would stop buying tickets.
• Recent discovery: Naked Juice drinks…awesome!
• Craving: Starbucks Triple Venti Skinny Vanilla Latte. Wait…maybe that is also the necessary extravagance…and the work necessity, and the thing I am jonesing...and…drat…(getting keys, going to 24 hour Starbucks drive thru)
*Fun, fearless and frivolous flashbacks*
Three memories – Everyone knows Lisa…I’ve decided to go with three NON WEDDING memories…just for kicks.
*When I was 15, I won second place in a music contest – I played the harp. However, I was the ONLY one in the contest. (I’ll give you a minute to do the math).
*I once went to lunch with Rip Taylor after seeing him in a revival of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes.” It was one of the most bizarre afternoons of my life.
*I have one pointed ear…yes…and actually had an entire family once ask if I was magical. (It’s not a huge point…but it is apparently enough of an oddity to evoke a comparisons to a fairy or some mythological creature. Except that I am six feet tall. And don’t have any sort of wings…at least not that I am aware of. If I do, maybe someone could clue me in…I have a hard enough time buying clothes.)

UNBRIDLED: My favorite wedding friends like...Dale Dees!

Dale Dees is not only my longest-running "wedding friendship," he's likely my longest friendship since moving to Orlando 9 years ago. I was roughly 17 months pregnant {okay, not really--but it felt like it!} and in desperate need of a hair stylist. I was also about to take some professional family photos, and needed to look, well, not so pregnant!
Dale’s work appears frequently in print and on television, where his hair and makeup designs have graced the covers of Itinerant Lifestyle, Industry, CREATE, PIZAZZ, BEAUTY WORLD, Winter Park Lifestyle and Orlando Leisure magazine. His styles have appeared nationally on “Whose Wedding is it Anyway?” and “The Daily Buzz” and "The Today Show" where he demonstrated a complete live on-camera makeover. He has also placed an impressive 1st place in the World Hair Olympics and now serves as Team USA's lead trainer.
Fresh out of cosmetology school, we've been the best of friends and professional partners ever since. We promised each other long ago: "wherever I go WE go..." I'm so pleased and proud to say that we've both upheld our respective end of the bargain. Oh, and I secretly love that he calls me his "boo..."
•Itching to work with: Beyonce
•Fashion Obsessions: Jeans.....I have one entire closet dedicated to my jean collection lol
•Beauty must-haves: a ceramic flat iron my pics.. chi and FHI heat in this Florida weather EVERYONE could benefit. fine -course...curly-straight
•Office/Work must haves: lol the first thing that came to mind was Hand Sanitizer. Then of course rice paper(powdered or non) for blotting excess midday oils lol sounds crazy but you will look refreshed all day and its quicker then reapplying make-up.
•Speed dialing: Best friend Heidi, Houlihans, and of course my boo
•Can’t get enough of: Music and Spirituality
•Jonesing to: arriving in Paris Oct. 16 it's all I think about!
•Current work project: Designing the next hair designs for the US world championship team

money. Then coming back with a job at Disney as a guide at Pirates
2) Not long after being employed by Disney Lisa saying she wanted to become an event planner. The next thing I knew she was being featured in her first national magazine, and her first national television debut
3) You came to the old salon in Altamonte and the girls were asleep so you left them in the car supervised and well attended to. Well some lady said something smart about it and I thought you were gonna’ eat her alive!! And I certainly would have helped you!! Lol. Love u.

UNBRIDLED: My favorite wedding friends like...Amy Morelli!

This week I probed into the creative mind of colleague and friend, Amy Morelli.
Owner and Visionary for The 2u Collection, Amy Morelli conceptualizes and designs one-of-a-kind, exclusive custom invitation collections as well as specializing in Wedding & Boutique Advertising Design.
Amy and I have collaborated on many ideas, and my fresh logo and marketing collateral is all in great thanks to her. I ALWAYS feel sassy handing out my business cards, rack cards and marketing collateral confident in her designs and execution. Best yet, she’ll always give it you straight, people! I find Amy to be very ‘black and white” with no grey area; a very reliable characteristic when you need to trust someone with your vision.
Oh, and she’s pretty fun too…

• Current work project: a Secret Project with Susan Southerland and Kristy Chenell! Mum is the word! Love those ladies

• Necessary extravagance: my IPHONE…need I say more!
• If I weren’t a graphic designer, I would: Lead camping expeditions. My husband says it’s the hippie deep inside of me. I would miss all my girly things, but deep inside there is a bit of a country outdoorsy girl!
• In my bag: Lip Balm (Mint Bou Balm from Caribou Coffee- it’s a Michigan thing) Travel Baby Wipes (What?! Really I’m don’t have a baby) a compact and box of matches (again—why? Not too sure.) • Craving: my famous bloody-tini with blue cheese stuffed olives.. Yum.

"UNBRIDLED"...Getting to know my favorite wedding friends!

I'm starting a new, fun series on the "In My Shoes" blog. I've seen and read some really great and creative interviews that are insightful, but I really wanted to take a light-hearted approach.
I want my blog guests to fill in the blanks in accordance with my thought-provoking questions...
NOT! I'll offer quick biographies of my guests as many of you may know the business side of the persona. I want you all to get a glimpse of the "real" persona, and what really makes them tick...
First guest...coming shortly--!

Glitz. Glamour. Reveal.

With great enthusiasm, we have been busily planning our long-awaited studio open house!
Perfectionists that we are, Abby Liga and I couldn't possibly have invited all of our friends, clients and partners without crossing all of our "t's" and dotting our "i's..."
The office is looking great and, best yet, the weather will be conducive to a swell fete in our courtyard filled with great energy.
We can't wait to see you!
